Heiress and fashion icon Daphne Guinness is raising eyebrows this week as the subject of a profile in this week's issue of The New Yorker magazine.
In it, Daph displayed her affinity for style over comfort.
Put more succinctly, she'll starve herself to look good.
The article describes Guinness at a David-Bowie inspired photo shoot, where she didn't mind taking pains to make her fashion look original:
"To incarnate Ziggy Stardust, she let a stylist place an enormous metallic collar around her neck; the stylist apologized for any discomfort.
"Are you kidding?" Guinness said. 'Uncomfortable is the name of the game.'"
During the shoot, she also declined to mix food and fashion, because, according to the heiress, the two are kind of mutually exclusive.
"Teresa Alfonso, Guinness's personal assistant, tried to get her to eat some of the pasta that had been prepared for the production team."
"'If I eat, I can't work,' Guinness, who had been subsisting on a very healthy diet of Red Bull and Ensure, said. 'I'll eat when I'm dead.'"
Guinness is the subject of an exhibition at the Museum at F.I.T., featuring clothes and accessories from her massive personal collection.

Lady Gaga's Lil Sis Talks Fashion and Life With the Star
There is no shortage of famous and talented sisters in Hollywood. From soul singers Beyonce and Solange Knowles to style savvy siblings Dakota and Elle Fanning, it's clear that talent often does run in the family. Well, Tinseltown needs to make room for one more dynamic duo as Lady Gaga's little sister, Natali Germanotta, makes her way into the spotlight! Natali, who has mostly kept herself under the radar, recently opened up in the October issue of Teen Vogue, spilling the beans on life as Gaga's kid sister.
It's clear that Natali is set on carving out her own identity; she's not interested in being the next Lady Gaga. When asked about her sister's fantastical fashion sense, Natali said, "Some of the stuff she wears I'd be like, 'No, never.'" But it's clear that both sisters share an affinity for the quirky—Natali arrived on set for her Teen Vogue shoot with a pet lizard that she openly smooched on the lips.
Natali, who has a distinct passion for fashion, is currently enrolled in Parsons The New School for Design. Natali's interest in fashion runs deep—she was considered to be the best-dressed in her grade and even designed her own graduation gown. Natali opted for fashion school instead of the typical college experience because she believes that [Parsons] "is less about getting drunk and more about learning what you need for your career."
It's refreshing to see Natali so determined on paving her own road in the fashion industry. It would be simple to ask big sis Gaga, who is widely recognized as a fashion icon, to call in a favor with her many industry connections to land Natali a prestigious gig. "For now I'd like to stay in school," Natali says. However, she is quick to point out that Gaga has occasionally called in favors for her, like when she turned Natali's school project into the shoe-shaped piano she played during a performance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. While Natali hasn't completely dismissed the possibility of a collaborative effort with Gaga, it will most likely not be as a stylist. Why not? "She changes 50 times a day," Natali aptly says.
